We have recently invested in some Numicon as a school. This is a fun learning resource for Maths were numbers are represented by consistent shapes and colours. It’s really helpful when children are trying to link numbers to amounts, look at number bonds and to see patterns in calculations or times tables as well as many other activities.
The Sun
However before we really get into using it we need to become familiar with the shapes. The children have been exploring it all week and really enjoying getting used to the shapes, the ways they join together, and the pictures they can make.
Our Smiling Man
Next week we’ll begin to look at how it can help us with our maths calculations.
Our Seaside picture
This looks really exciting, what a brilliant way to start exploring Numicon! I wonder if you will put your pictures up in the classroom – I shall have to look out for them!
I really like your pictures but the thing I am most excited about is using the Numicon in Maths.
Do you think it will help you to do your sums?
